Improving systems and compensation support
We resolve inconveniences and improve the rights and interests of fishermen through the improvement of unreasonable systems. In addition, we help fishermen who have suffered damage due to public service projects to receive reasonable compensation for damages.
Job support
In cooperation with the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, we operate a website (Happy Sea) and the Fisherman Job Support Center that provides various information on welfare, education, and job support in the fishery sector.
Educational support
To raise the social and cultural level of fishing villages and establish their identity, we support cooperative education, leadership development education, fishing village chief education, and new fishermen training.
Female fishermen support
Suhyup supports women's colleges and specialized education courses to develop the skills and self-development of female fishermen who can lead the fishing village economy. We also support the activities of the Korea Women Fishermen Association to promote the rights and interests of female fishermen. In addition, we are striving to improve female fishermen’s social and cultural status through various education and support projects.

We provide business support by setting regulations and guidelines necessary for human resource management, executives and employees. In particular, we hire talented people who will lead Suhyup through a transparent and open recruitment process.
Suhyup leader’s workshop
Through the leader’s workshop, cooperative leaders will understand fisheries policies and learn management skills while encouraging them to be responsible. It also suggests Suhyup’s development plan through a variety of project activities.

We guide member associations to have sound management through systematic management evaluation and insolvency prevention systems. In addition, we support continuous growth and development with customized management consulting, management improvement funds, and member support funds.
City-fishing village exchanges
City-fishing village exchange support
We implement the Fishing Village Love Movement, a sisterhood relationship between companies and fishing villages. The Fishing Village Love Movement promotes mutual cooperation by providing fishing villages with warm love and interest while providing city residents with safe fishery products and a pleasant environment. In addition, we promote the Fishing Village and Love Movement through various support and events.
Fishing village tourism promotion support
To encourage city residents to visit fishing villages, various fishing village experience programs such as the mudflat and fishing experience were introduced to city residents. We are also supporting the seafood festival to help it become a regional representative festival. In addition, we are contributing to the income generation of fishermen by revitalizing fishing village tourism through the “Summer Vacation Spending in Fishing Villages” campaign.
Assistance in hiring foreign workers
To solve the workforce shortage in the coastal fishing areas, we introduce foreign workers and place them in fishing villages to strengthen the fishery industry’s competitiveness. We also operate a grievance counseling center (operating ARS 24 hours a day) so that these foreign workers can adapt stably. In addition, various welfare services are provided, such as “education for foreign workers”, “compensation support and consolation goods for foreigners in case of an accident”, and “support for foreign workers’ accommodation equipment and cold-weather supplies”

Safe fishing instruction support
Fishing Vessel Safety Operation Offices (headquarters, 20 offices, 65 stations) are located in major ports across the country and operate situation rooms 24/7. We provide prompt maritime rescue support services as well as various fishing information. In addition, we protect the lives and properties of fishermen through safe fishing management of offshore and EEZ fishing boats.
Safe fishing education
Professional instructors provide training to raise safety awareness, prevent accidents, and improve proficiency with using life-saving equipment. By actively utilizing the permanent training center and safety experience center, we provide hands-on experience to fishermen without restrictions on time and place.
Broadcasting
We forecast fishing conditions, water temperatures, prices, and other information necessary to the fishing industry. Large monitors are installed in fishery auction docks to raise productivity and incomes in the fishing industry.
Publication Fisherman in Fisheries
Fisherman in Fisheries is published every Thursday and distributed to fishermen, fisheries cooperatives, the government, and citizens to protect the rights and interests of the fishery industry by triggering communication with fishing villages. In addition, to accurately deliver and promote fisheries-related news, it contains various information related to fishery production and consumption, fishery policy, and general news related to the fishery industry.

Creation and recovery management of aquatic resources
- Release marine species seeds : We discharge healthy marine species seeds in the ocean to create fishery resources and increase fishermen’s income.
- Cleaning the seafloor and eliminating harmful creatures : Creating an optimal habitat for aquatic life by removing harmful creatures such as starfish and contaminants on the sea bed.
Maintain and improve the sea environment management
- Cleaning ocean waste : Conducting a nationwide campaign to save the sea through coastal garbage collection.
- Support for collecting salvaged garbage during fishing : Supports discharge costs for the recovered waste during fishing to prevent re-dumping of marine litter and protect the marine environment.
- Support for collecting abandoned fishing gear : Prevent unintended fishing and preserve fishermen’s income by collecting abandoned fishing gear using idle fishing boats.
- Sea environment watch group : By recognizing the value of the sea, Suhyup employees act as guards for the clean environment of the sea.
Preventing sea development
- Anti-sea sand mining movement : We carry out anti-sea sand mining movements to protect aquatic resources and restore the continuously declining coastal fishery production.
- Anti offshore wind power plants construction movement : We carry out the Anti offshore wind power plant construction movement, which excludes fishermen's opinion and causes the reduction of fishing grounds due to long-term space occupancy.
- Anti marine development movement : We carry out the anti marine development movement to prevent sea damage caused by indiscriminate marine development.
Survey and research
Since the international environment is constantly changing, we must thoroughly prepare to continuously strengthen the global competitiveness of our fishery industry. We are trying to present practical countermeasures to protect fishermen, fishing villages, and the fishery industry. To increase its value, we conduct in-depth research in various fields such as fisheries economy, policy and finance, trade measures and environment, and fishery systems. In addition, to provide smooth supply and demand of fishery funds and efficiency in fund management, we publish surveys for fishery management, amount of managed funds, and various information and statistics related to the fishery industry.
Also, we provide opportunities for discussion on the development of the domestic and global fishery industry through The Future of Fisheries Forum and other meetings and seminars. We participate in the Korea-China-Japan Private Fishery Association to exchange and cooperate with private fishery organizations in neighboring countries. In addition, by supporting our fishing vessels in Russian waters, we help increase fishermen’s income and a stable supply of domestic fishery products.
